MapQuest s a free online mapping service that provides directions, maps, and live traffic updates for various modes of transportation, including cars, public transit, and walking. It was launched in 1996 and acquired by Verizon in 2015.
MapQuest underwent a logo redesign in 2015, resulting in a retro-chic, 1970s-style logo designed by Futurebrand. The current logo features a geometric mountain range with the word "MapQuest" in a bold, sans-serif font.
The new logotype is a departure from the previous logo, designed by Wolff Olins in 2010, which featured a monogram of "M" and "Q" with a logotype beneath. The font used in the former logo is similar to Antenna Bold, while the comic lettering of the logo used before 2010 resembles a free font named Cheap Motel by Marty Bee.
