The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a 2006 novel by Irish novelist John Boyne. The book is set during World War II and tells the story of Bruno, a young German boy whose father is a high-ranking Nazi officer. In 2008 the film of the same name based on the novel was released.
Bodoni Classic Text Bold, a contemporary serif created by German type designer Gert Wiescher, is similar to the font used for the text on the book cover. The title on the movie poster as shown below uses Bembo, an old-style serif typeface from 1929 that was based on a design created by Francesco Griffo sometime around 1495.
